Introducing Digitakt II

Curious. What would that be?

Thanks

The kind of music I make is leaning more towards being synths-first: evolving oscillators like say gradually introducing unison while the shape of the oscillator morphs from saw to square as part of how a lead evolves. Perhaps ā€œtranceā€ is the closest approximation of sticking a genre label on the music but it’s a mix of things.

Anyway, clearly you’d have to combine two tracks of you wanted to create these kinds of interesting movements using sample wavetables but with 16 tracks, the possibilities are kind of endless.

It would first be a good thing to get a confirmation from Elektron that DT1 samples are or not on D2, cause I’ve found some of my favorite in there, and I guess it would be needed for ensuring DT1 projects compatibility…

All of the DT1 sample library is present along with new DT2 files. To facilitate compatibility of imported projects. User stuff is different and needs managing

Looked up some your music videos. Great stuff and visuals :+1: I think I get the idea. Reminds me of Jarre, Schultz, Vangelis. Long developing melodic polyphonic synth structures. (At least so I perceived it, filtering the drums in my head). Yes, that would def. be easier with the melodic tools. (Harmony changes and stuff). Should be also easier with the new features like 128 steps (that’s huge when set to 8ths) and performance kits.

Thank you! Yes, very synthy, drums more secondary. I keep wishing I could resample to add textures on the Syntakt, but maybe I’d miss the synth machines on the Digitakt 2. Probably want both. :joy:

Owning the mpc one+ and still regret not having my 2000xl and 3000le any more.
If it ever comes to the day I’m buying a Digitakt II I most certainly keep the one I already have.

I could not find anyone talking about song mode inplementation yet. Is it still impossible to select a pattern to not start at the begining?

I’ve been doing my best to avoid this thread …. So apologies if asked/clarified before - is this the same chorus as the DN?

As I understood it, we need an updated version of Transfer for them to send samples via USB file transfers rather than MIDI.
That’s why it’s so slow right now.

I don’t think so.
Transfer uses USB and seemed fast enough to me last time I used it.
I’ll check this again when I’m back home.

Will they stretch automatically, to retain a constant length, when playing chromatically?

Did you ever find out more on this? Just bought a LoopCloud subscription in anticipation of my DT2 arrival and now I’m Hearing it does not work

I was hesitant but then took the plunge as last week I got a promotional email to get 1 year subscription for 50% off. And I could choose the cheapest one paying 35 eur for a year. I think that’s worth it considering I also kept the DT1 for now, and Loopcloud is pretty good at managing my own sample library.

The loopcloud homepage lists these requirements:

Software version requirements to use Loopcloud x Digitakt

Before you get started, you’ll need to make sure all your software is up to date:

  • You must be running Digitakt firmware version 1.50+. You can find updates for the Digitakt firmware here.
  • You must be running Overbridge 2.3.9+. You can find updates for Overbridge here.
  • You must be running Loopcloud 7.1.3+. You can download the latest version here.

Since overbridge DT2 isn’t ready yet, requirements aren’t met.

Okay this gives me hope ^^. Let’s wait for the Digitakt II Overbridge. With that the connection to Loopcloud might be re-established.
