Hugely inspiring and may have single-handedly made me want an OT!

I had an OT, but I sold it, because it’s mainly for glitch or ambient style music. If you are producing for example house or dance music, I don’t recommended it for you

There are tons of videos on youtube with producers making house/techno/whatever on Octatrack. The machine can be used an 8 track to make anything you want. Its all down to your creativity.

Saying the Octatrack is not a house/techno/dance machine is like saying the MPC is a not suited for hip-hop production

Hahahaha
 I recognise this too much

I can count on my fingers how many times i touched my DAW since i got an OT.

Nuff’ said.

P.S i only have 9.5 fingers.

How likely is an OT MKII in the foreseeable future?

Likewise, and each time I have used my DAW since, it has been purely for sample editing to dump into my OT.

I disagree with this. I understand with the amount of effects and features its easy to get carried away and end up sounding glitchy but it can be used in more subltle ways.
I would recommend it, no regrets. It’s central to me, looking forward to getting the AR to free up some tracks now too.

Hehe, same here. Mostly making 64 slice grids.

Yep. I almost exclusively make Techno with mine. You can do so much more than “glitch” with it. You can also give your dance/house/whatever music a nice twist with some glitchy not-so-perfect tweaks, which sounds awesome. The Sky Was Pink (Holden remix) comes to mind.

Thanks for all the replies.

I make a lot of House especially Deep House and I think the Elektron gear is great for that. I agree that a lot of people make different music with the Octatrack but I saw a few Videos on Youtube were people really did some amazing Deep House tracks with the OT.

Regarding the effects I think you don’t necessarily have to use all of them. I Dj since 1997 and if I play a Dj set I also don’t use all of the effects a Mixer has. I mostly use the EQs and the filter.
I own a Kaoss Pad 3 and I hardly use it.

With the OT I probably focus on some core features and try to use it in a way that works for me.
BTW. there is a Disco Project called Tiger & Woods as far as I know they use the OT in their live sets.

yes I know T&W, it’s one of my favorite project. I think they’re using the OT mainly for effects and 2 NI Maschines and a MPC 1000 for the beats and samples.
Yes I know of course that you can use the OT for house music too, but I think, it mostly for experimental things and not for live sounding “traditional” dance music
(you know I like to dance  )

that’s an impressive live set!

the OT is a sampler (among other things)
why would it be limited to any particular genre?

btw, post above, very nice
my only complaint about the OT, not enough inputs/tracks
this is solved by multiple OTs like in that video

RYTM time

It is possible that they only use the OT for effects but in general they mostly use short samples so it should be no problem to use the OT for that.
I follow you now on Soundcloud.
I saw you are from Austria. Viele GrĂŒĂŸe nach Wien.Ist eine sehr schöne Stadt.

Btw. The Video from Daypak is really amazing.
