Analog four retrigger/ratchet

hi all,

I referred to that main thread from few years ago where this clever dude had a workaround for fast retrigs on the a4.

I tried to replicate it on a couple occasions over the years, not the best results.

can someone break it down for me?
I must be missing something, often the lfo wont even kick in for me…

I have seen people keep asking for this, hopefully this thread can bring some concrete settings for posterity.

Say you have e.g. a hat sound on your current track.

  1. Set the arp on for this current sound, with octave = 1
  2. Save the preset as a “Sound” (the name for preset in A4). I suggest to add a letter in the name to remember the retrig aspect (e.g. “HH-R LONG HATS”)
  3. Load this preset in the Sound Pool : these are sounds you can recall quickly in your project, especially for Sound locks
  4. Do Sound locks with such sounds where you need it.

It’s a real pity one cannot lock the arp parameter, and that a retrig menu isn’t there already.
Please don’t hesitate to send a request at feature-request@elektron.se

man thanks,

now this is an excellent workaround. super fast reply too, I really appreciate it.
definitely something I will be messing with.

I dont mind sending the feature request, tbh this was talked about for many years now. they are surely well aware its needed so presumably there is a reason for the retrig omission.

tbh I really like the less linear quality of lfo driven note repeat.
my results are wonky (still interesting though) so if anyone has further tips, I am super interested.

cheers

People come and go, the needs stay.
It’s a good idea IMO to show Elektron the Analog 4 is still a used instrument, with actual users ^^
