Hi guys,
I need som advice. I’ve been offered a near mint Monomachine Keys SFX-6. The price is roughly in between a used and a new Monomachine Desktop. Around 1000€.
So I’ll pay quite a bit more for only slightly more functionality compared to what a used MnM desktop (mk2 even) with a external keyboard would give me.
On the other hand. It’s rare. Got some wow factor. Quite some retro pizzaz. And that funky joystick.
Again on the other hand. No warranties. Less storage. Slightly less SnR.
Please advice. What would you do?
Cheers,
Mikael
hi Carl …
I am / was sort of in the same boat …
I want to see that beauty of a beast in my (bedroom) studio … the esthetics are like a Davinci plus some Picasso mixed with “insert random industrial design fetish here” …
at the same time I wanted to get her as an “investment” … 500 made, give or take 50 years this thing may become a new Juno*** or the like …
on the other hand… faulty circuits, hard maintainance better features with a newer model …
if you got the dough, if you have the space, if you fancy the estetics, if she is in near mint condition … AND you would user her as midi sequencer AND synth … GO FOR IT …
you can always get another MM mkII (non+drive) for far under 1000 and then go into double MM madness with endlesssssssss fuckery options …
do it, buy her… she will sell well if working decently and calls for a new home … send me the link to your desired MM via PM, I check for scam attempts if you like
tl/dr : the mono on a wall like a 3d poster is already worth the money
Thanks for your input.
Yeah. Weighing the pros and cons back and forth.
Haven’t seen many (any) selling, so I don’t know what they’re going for. But the asking price for this was quite a bit higher to start with. I imagine that it shouldn’t be hard to sell further on if it’s not to my liking.
Then again - I just rearranged my home studio, and the SFX-6 won’t really fit the current setup. A desktop would be better. Space wise.
Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhh. Gotta make a decision within a few hours.
