Can the A4 sound like this?

I’ve always admired the shruthi demos I heard, but this ones takes the cake.
I keep neglecting my A4 and I’m also gutted that Elektron didn’t think of adding a dash key to it :alien:

the A4 goes wild quickly but I can’t get it close to the ‘saturation’ in the video by any means. especially the noise floats my boat for some reason.
What you reckon?

edit: i like the patch around ~4:20 in particular

The Shruthi has digital oscs which allows it to provide a wider range of sounds than the smoother sounding oscs of the A4. On top of that, this one has the 4PM filter board which has a rather different analogue filter architecture with a different sound compared to what’s available on the A4 (one of the cool features of the 4PM filter board is that you can choose between different resonance flavors).

By the way, what you’re hearing around 4:20 seems to be a patch where its sequencer is running and you’re hearing bursts of noise from the second osc.

i don’t think i’ve gotten the a4 filter as zappy. to me that sounds more korg ms20 ish.

thanks for the insight - whenever I have a (single) voice which I like on the A4 it mostly relies on heavy filtering and resonance so those noise bursts from the 2nd osc are either too faint or not present at all… (and yea I never get it as snappy as I’d like it to be - but I’m also a bit of a numpty when it comes to synthesis)

i have been listening to this demo numerous times now and it keeps growing on me - been a while that I got attracted by just the sound of a piece of gear.
it sounds huge doesn’t it?
