Instant FSU sampling technique

i guess the entire box is a FSU machine but
in my quest to get to know the thing better,
i ran across a scary sample technique. i searched
the forum but couldn’t find a topic on it.

…now i’m sure you OT mavens already know this,
so, forgiveness…

it works well on beat oriented material.

set a track recorder to sample internally, but on
your record trigger don’t assign anything to it…

assign the record buffer to sample A/B (or C/D) but
make sure the MIDI button is unlit.

Now make your sample.

Go to the recording editor and normalize the low
amplitude sample.

you should hear a horrifying version
of your recording (make sure you turn down the gain in the
attributes page first tho).

do you say it can sample from inputs even though it shouldn’t with these settings?

i think it is just sampling the tiny signal bleed from the
main outs. normalizing this sample adds an enormous
amount digititis to what was going thru the main outs.

i’ve been sampling it, slicing it, adjusting the hold/release (and etc. etc.) of
the slices and adding it to the original beat… sounds good.

just try it, scary.
